Dongfeng Makes Singapore SUV Debut With Launch of Vigo Model

Chinese automaker Dongfeng has added a new model to its growing electric portfolio in Singapore with the official launch of the Vigo, a compact electric SUV positioned to appeal to urban drivers seeking practicality and value.

The Vigo was previously previewed at local roadshows and earlier editions of The Car Expo, before making its formal debut at the 2026 Singapore Motor Show. With this launch, Dongfeng continues to broaden its presence in the city-state’s competitive electric vehicle market.

Measuring 4,306mm in length, 1,868mm in width and 1,654mm in height, the Vigo sits slightly smaller than several well-known rivals in the compact electric SUV category. Despite its footprint, the model aims to maximise interior usability, supported by a wheelbase of 2,715mm that should allow for comfortable rear passenger space.

The Vigo is powered by a single electric motor driving the front wheels, producing 99kW of output and 230Nm of torque. This configuration places it within the requirements for a Category A COE, while delivering a claimed acceleration time of 9.5 seconds from standstill to 100km/h.

Energy is supplied by a 51.87kWh lithium iron phosphate battery. According to the manufacturer, the Vigo can travel up to 471km on a full charge under standard testing conditions. Fast-charging capability is another highlight, with support for DC charging rates of up to 167kW, enabling a 10 to 80 per cent recharge in around 18 minutes.

Dongfeng has also emphasised cabin comfort and noise reduction. The Vigo is said to incorporate extensive sound insulation throughout the body, while the electric drivetrain operates at very low noise levels, contributing to a quieter driving experience.

At the rear, the Vigo distinguishes itself with a generously sized 500-litre boot. An additional feature is its split tailgate design, which allows the lower section to support loads of up to 150kg. This setup is intended to enhance versatility for outdoor use, leisure activities and everyday transport needs. The model also includes Vehicle-to-Load capability, allowing external devices to be powered directly from the car.

Inside, the Vigo follows Dongfeng’s approach of offering a wide range of standard features. Highlights include powered front seats, driver seat ventilation, multi-colour ambient lighting, a panoramic glass roof and a wireless charging pad. Digital displays dominate the dashboard, with an 8.8-inch driver information screen and a 12.8-inch central touchscreen supporting smartphone connectivity.

Driver assistance systems are also part of the package, with features such as lane support functions, traffic sign recognition and a comprehensive surround-view camera system designed to simplify parking in tight urban spaces.

Looking ahead, Dongfeng has signalled that further models are in the pipeline for Singapore. During the motor show, the brand also showcased vehicles from its other product lines, including a larger three-row electric SUV aimed at families seeking more space and premium touches. While no official launch timeline has been announced, these previews suggest continued expansion of Dongfeng’s local offering.

As competition in Singapore’s electric vehicle market intensifies, the arrival of the Vigo adds another option for buyers considering a compact SUV with a focus on range, features and everyday usability.
